The App I Needed 14 Years Ago

The App I Needed 14 Years Ago

When I stepped into my first CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) role, I wasn’t prepared.

I knew security. I understood technology.
But translating that into the risk the business cared about?
Communicating in a way that leadership trusted?
Explaining impact in dollars, decisions, and outcomes—not vulnerabilities?

That was a different game.

I was drowning in spreadsheets, patchwork templates, inconsistent formatting, and notes that only I understood.
I didn’t need more frameworks.
Someone to guide the thinking, not just the documentation.

That app didn’t exist.

So I’m building it now.

Introducing: Cyber Risk OS

It’s the tool I wish had existed before my first executive conversation.

What it does:

→ Guides you through risk assessment step-by-step
→ Helps you scope like a strategist, not a technician
→ Translates findings into plain, executive-ready language
→ Shows exactly how CISOs communicate risk upward

It’s not “another framework.”

🔹 It’s a thinking coach in app form.

Three Months In — MVP Live

Progress has been faster than expected, not because I have a perfect plan, but because I’m building what I actually need, not what looks impressive on a slide deck.

Along the way, I’m documenting everything:

Week by week:
→ The features that matter vs. the ones that don’t
→ How 12+ years of CISO experience becomes code
→ The mistakes, assumptions, and near-wrong turns
→ Users, revenue, and honest numbers

Why Build This Publicly?

Because someone needs to see this:

You don’t need venture capital.
You don’t need permission.
You don’t need to know everything before you begin.

You need a problem you’ve personally felt deeply enough to solve it.

Cyber Risk OS is a micro-SaaS platform that helps security professionals think strategically well before they’re handed the title.

Follow Along If You Want to See

  • A CISO building tech (role reversal)
  • Raw, transparent build-in-public updates
  • How we turn expertise into systems
  • The bridge between security and business

And Here’s the Best Part…

Cyber Risk OS is now accessible through the CISO Launchpad Community

Why?

Because tools alone don’t create leaders — conversation, context, and guidance do.

Inside the community, you’ll get:

✔ Access to the Cyber Risk OS App
✔ Training on how to use it strategically
✔ Templates and workflows to support your role
✔ Q&A, support, and real-world examples
✔ A network of others growing into leadership

This isn’t just software — it’s a system and a support structure.

So what is CISO Launchpad? It's a new community to help you transition into a CISO-caliber role, moving from Technical to Strategic, to future-proof your career!

It is still under construction, but I want to create a community where we can share, discuss, and use Cyber Risk OS to learn and develop our skills. This community is free for you. As it grows and more content is added, a paid community will be introduced, without affecting your membership.

You don't need a title to start thinking like a CISO.

The Invisible Shift-Saver Flawless weeks can feel like failure when success is measured only by the fires you put out. I once patched a high-severity vulnerability ahead of Black Friday; sales soared, but the board never heard about the bullet we dodged. Silence doesn’t tell a story; scoreboards do. Why Numbers Beat Hero Moments Heroics evaporate fast. The next sprint forgets a 3 a.m. miracle fix, and applause scrolls out of view. Scoreboards stick. A simple line such as “$2.4 M revenue...

Hey Let’s talk about the moment no one likes to admit: You’re skilled. You’re reliable. You’re the one they call when something breaks. But behind the fixes, behind the fire-fighting... There’s a feeling that won’t go away. That quiet frustration of being needed, but never heard. That pit-in-your-stomach feeling when another month passes, and you're still stuck in ops. That minor, internal betrayal when you say, "I’ll focus on strategy… after I close this ticket." And then you’re back in the...

Hey there, Many new CISOs think that presenting worst-case scenarios will scare executives into action. They mention data breaches, ransomware, and fines, hoping fear drives decisions. But guess what? Too many risks lead to overwhelm. Leaders freeze when it all sounds too dire. Instead, show them how cybersecurity can be an investment in the company’s success. Let’s dive in: 1. Tie Security to Business Goals Executives care about profits, market share, and growth. Align your security plans...
